DRY was opened on the 25th July 1989 by Factory Records with an idea of a bar more in keeping with the cafe culture of Barcelona and Los Angeles. It was stated by Tony Wilson that “DRY is to be to the Bars what the Hacienda is to Clubs.” The original design of DRY was unique and played an important role in the nations bar culture of today.
Whilst DRY still feels modern and contemporary, its history still flows within and the main features of the bar still remain. These include a spectacle of Japanese oak doors, Canadian telegraph poles, a South African slate bar top and a giant spear on the ceiling running the length of the bar.
Expect a range of varied events from live acts and innovative local DJs, playing a whole host of different music genres. This alongside the laidback sociable atmosphere, friendly staff and late 4am closing times on Friday and Saturday’s (free entry) make DRY a favourite nightspot for locals and visitors alike.
