Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are a Belgian DJ and record producer duo composed of brothers Dimitri and Michael Thivaios. DJ Mag’s annual Top 100 DJs for 2016-17 has them placed at #2 on the list.
The pair stated DJing at a young age, with appearances in local small clubs. Within a few years, the brother had became presenters on Belgium radio station BeatFM. Dimitri started touring Europe in 1999, and in 2003, was resident in major Ibiza clubs such as Privilege and Space.
In autumn 2006, Dimitri returned to Belgium to work with his brother, Like Mike. Together, they produced their first release “La Cocaina (Eivissa 2007)”. His remix of “Work That Body”, 2008 caught the attention of Axwell, who entrusted them with a remix of “Rotterdam City of Love” by Abel Ramos for his label Axtone.
They hosted the Tomorrowland EDM festival in 2010, and the following year collaborated with Afrojack and Nervo on the smash single “The Way We See the World”. Then in 2011, they went on to launched Smash the House imprint record label. The duo scored seven number one hits on digital music retailer Beatport in 2013 alone. The brothers racked up numerous pop hits in Belgium and other European countries, including “Chattahoochee” and “Find Tomorrow (Ocarina),” which both hit number two in Belgium.
Hits and festival headlines continued, and the duo have consistently ranked within the top five on DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJs poll. Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s debut release in 2015, showcased the smast hit singles of “The Hum” (with Ummet Ozcan) and “Higher Place” (featuring Ne-Yo). Also in 2015, the brothers won ‘Best Global DJ’ at the 2015 edition of the EMPO TV awards in Mexico.
In 2016, they collaborated with Dutch production duo W&W on the single “Arcade,” which hit the top of the Beatport’s Top 100 EDM songs chart, as well as the Belgium and French charts. Singles such as “Melody,” featuring Steve Aoki and Ummet Ozcan, and “Stay Awhile” kept the brothers in the public eye. The year ended with the release of “Hey Baby,” a collaboration with American producer Diplo, who had previously joined the pair at their House of Madness party in Ibiza.
